Foreword
This standard equivalently adopts the clause 4.3 Determination of the adipic
acid mass fraction in TOCT 10558-80* (with the No.2 modification notification
passed in September 1989, AND the No.3 modification notification passed in
March 1992) “Adipic acid – Technical conditions”, AND the test methods of
clause 2.2 Determination of contents in SH/T 1499-92 after review.
This standard uses the hot boiling water to substitute the isopropyl
alcohol-water mixed solvent to dissolve sample, AND uses the potassium
hydrogen phthalate to substitute the oxalic acid to calibrate the concentration
of the sodium hydroxide standard solution, in order to obtain satisfactory
results.
This version was rewritten in accordance with the editing requirements of GB/T
1.1-1993, AND the chapter is fully supplemented and adjusted.
This standard shall, from the date of implementation, replace the clause 2.2
Determination of content in SH/T 1499-92.
This standard was proposed by Liaoyang Petrochemical Company.
This standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Chemical
Standardization Technical Committee Petrochemical Technical Subcommittee.

Pure adipic acid – Determination of content –
Titrimetric method
1 Scope
This standard specifies neutralization titration method for the determination of
adipic acid content. The results include other acidic substances in the product,
so this standard is only applicable to the determination of the adipic acid
content in high purity products.
2 Normative reference

through reference in this Standard. The versions indicated at the time of
publication of this standard are valid. All standards are subjected to revision,
AND parties who reach an agreement based on this Standard are encouraged
to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable.

3 Method summary
After the sample was dissolved in fresh boiled hot water, USE the
phenolphthalein as indicator and the sodium hydroxide standard titration
solution to titrate the solution to make it change from colorless to reddish.
4 Reagents and solutions
Unless otherwise noted, the reagents used are analytical pure, AND the water
used shall comply with the level III water specifications of GB/T 6682.
4.1 Sodium hydroxide standard titration solution [c (NaOH) = 0.5mol/L]. It is
prepared and calibrated in accordance with the technical requirements of GB/T
601.
4.2 Phenolphthalein indicator solution (10g/L). WEIGH 1.0g of phenol
phthalate; DISSOLVE it into 100mL of ethanol.
