Foreword
This Standard is the revision of FZ/T 01053-1998 "Textiles - Designation of Fibre
Content". Compared with FZ/T 01053-1998, this Standard has the following main
changes.
- Textile products not within the scope of this Standard are added in Appendix A.
- Normative reference "Textiles - Man-made Fibres - Generic Names "(ISO 2076.
1999) is added in Appendix B.
- Terms and definitions in Chapter 3 are added;
- The original three chapters (i.e. marking requirements, marking principle and
content tolerance) are adjusted to four chapters (i.e. fibre content labeling
requirements, fibre content and fibre name, fibre content expression methods and
fibre content tolerance).
- The requirements of attachment mode of label, label quantity of whole set of
products, label material and words on tag are added.
- It makes clear that the mass of percentage content is the conventional mass.
- "new type of fibre" and the provision that fibre morphology characteristics may be
described are added.
- The fibre content expression methods of different products are detailed, and
examples are added.
- Content deviation is simplified and unified as 5% (10% for filler), and the deviation
of low content is added.
- The chapter "Judgment of Conformity of identification of fibre content" is added.
- Appendixes A, B and C are added.
This Standard replaces FZ/T 01053-1998 from the implementation date.
Appendix A is normative; Appendix B and Appendix C of this Standard are
informative.
This Standard was proposed by China National Textile and Apparel Council.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of Foundation Subcommittee of National
Technical Committee on Nuclear Energy of Standardization Administration of China
(SAC/TC 209/SC 1).
Textiles - Identification of Fibre Content
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the labeling requirements, marking principle, expression
methods, allowable deviation and judgment of label conformity, and gives expression
examples of textile fibre content.
This Standard is applicable to textile products sold in China. Unless otherwise stated
by the nation, the products given in Appendix A are not within the scope of this
Standard.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this Standard.
3.1
Textile products
It refers to the products with natural fibre and chemical fibre as principal raw material,
and produced by such process as spinning, weaving and dyeing or then by sewing
and compounding, for example, yarn, textile and its finished products.
3.2
Permanent label
It refers to legible label which always attaches on product and be able to withstand the
maintenance program stated in the product instruction.
4 Fibre Content Labeling Requirements
4.1 Each product shall be attached with a fibre content label indicating the name and
content of each component fibre in product.
4.2 Each finished product shall be attached with a permanent label of fibre content.
4.3 As for the products adopting permanent labels which influence product use or for
the products for which permanent label is not suitable (for instance, shell fabric, wool,
sewing thread and sock), other type of label may be adopted, such as tag.
4.4 As for the products which are to be sold in box or bag and for which permanent
label is not suitable, where the fibre composition of each product, fibre content label
may be provided in marketing unit.
4.5 Where the wrapped products are sold, if the fibre content information on textile
products (products meeting the requirements of 4.4 are excluded) is not clear, the
fibre content of products shall be marked on package or product instruction.
4.6 As for a whole set of products composed of two or more unit products of different
fibre content or a whole set of products with the same fibre content but with each unit
as an independent product for sell, separate fibre content label shall be provided for
each product.
4.7 Where a whole set of products with the same fibre content are delivered to final
consumers, the information of fibre content may be only marked on one unit of the
products.
4.8 As for the products not being sold to final consumers, the contents of fibre
content label shall be replaced by commercial documents.
4.9 The materials of permanent fibre content label shall not be irritant to human
body, and shall attach at proper position of product; the information on label shall not

Chinese characters specified by the nation, and may also be expressed in other
languages.

application instruction. Where there are different types of fibre content labels on textile
products, the fibre content shall always be consistent.
5 Marking Principle of Fibre Content and Fibre Name
5.1 Fibre content shall be expressed as a percentage of this fibre accounting for
fibre total amount of product or some part of product, it shall be marked to integer.
5.2 Generally, fibre content is expressed as a percentage of conventional mass
calculated adopting net dry mass and convention moisture regain.
Note. as for cotton or linen products, fibre content may be expressed as net dry mass percentage, but net dry content
shall be clearly indicated; where microscope is adopted, the fibre content shall be the results obtained by standard
method; the fiber with conventional moisture regain unknown shall be expressed as the moisture regain of the same
kind of fiber or the standard moisture regain.
5.3 The names of fibres shall be standard and meet the requirements of relevant ...
