Foreword 
5.1, 5.2, 5.4, 5.6, 6.4, 6.8.2, Annex A and Annex B of this standard are
recommendatory; and the rest are mandatory.
This standard replaces GB 18248-2000 Seamless Steel Tubes for Gas Cylinder.
Compared with GB 18248-2000, it makes the main changes to the following technical
contents.
— Modify the scope of the standard;
— Modify the size tolerance of steel tubes;
— Adjust P and S content requirements of steel. Add 2 designations of 34CrMo4 and
30CrMnSiA;
— Modify the steel smelting methods;
— Add the thermal expansion tabulation method. Modify the delivery status of steel
tubes;
— Delete the macroscopic examination;
— For steel tubes made by rolling (forging) tube billet, inspection performance of
non-metallic inclusions is changed from “on tube billet” to “on steel tubes”. At the
same time, modify the inspection requirements of non-metallic inclusions of steel
tubes according to GB/T 10561;
— Add quality requirements of inner and outer surfaces straights of steel tubes;
— Modify the longitudinal mechanical property data measured from the samples that
are made by the steel tube heat-treated billet. And the required value is changed to
be reference value, as listed in Appendix B.
Annex A and Annex B of this standard are informative.
This standard was proposed by China Electrical Equipment Industrial Association.
The Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Steel Standardization
Technical Committee.

1  Scope 
This standard specified the size, shape, weight, technical requirements, test methods,
inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certification of seamless steel tubes for
gas cylinder and energy accumulator shell.
This standard applies to seamless steel tubes for manufacturing gas cylinder and energy
accumulator shell.
