This Part is GB 2099 - Part 2. Particular requirements for adaptors.
This Part is modified in relation to IEC 60884-2-5.1995 Plugs and socket-outlets for
household and similar purposes - Part 2. Particular requirements for adaptors (First edition).
The main differences between this Part and IEC 60884-2-5.1995 are.
1) IEC 60083 is added into Clause 2 Normative Reference, the referenced standard IEC
60669-2-1.1994 is changed as GB 16915.2-2000 (eqv IEC 60669-2-1.1996), the edition
adopted is newer than IEC 60669-2-1.1994.
2) The title of Clause 5 is changed as “General remarks on tests” due to this Part will be
coordinated and used in conjunction with the latest edition of the Part 1 of GB 2099.
3) In Clause 9, Article 9.1 and 9.3 are modified according to the applications and
requirements of adaptors in China.
4) The title of Clause 16 is changed accordingly due to this Part will be coordinated and
used in conjunction with the latest edition of the Part 1 of GB 2099.
5) The referenced figures’ numbers are modified accordingly due to this Part will be
coordinated and used in conjunction with the latest edition of the Part 1 of GB 2099.
6) Requirements of Article 24.9 are added in Clause 24.
This Part replaces GB 2099.3-1997 Plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar
purposes—Part 2. Particular requirement for adaptors.
The main differences between this Part and GB 2099.3-1997 are as follows.
1) The referenced standard IEC 60669-2-1.1994 in Clause 2 Normative Reference is
changed as GB 16915.2-2000 (eqv IEC 60669-2-1.1996), the edition adopted is newer than
IEC 60669-2-1.1994.
2) The title of Clause 5 is changed as “General remarks on tests” due to this Part will be
coordinated and used in conjunction with the latest edition of the Part 1 of GB 2099.
3) In Clause 9, Article 9.1 and 9.3 are modified according to the applications and
requirements of adaptors in China.
4) The title of Clause 16 is changed accordingly due to this Part will be coordinated and
used in conjunction with the latest edition of the Part 1 of GB 2099.
IEC Foreword
1) The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is a worldwide organization for
standardization comprising all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National
Committees). The object of the IEC is to promote international cooperation on all questions
concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end and in addition
to other activities, the IEC publishes International Standards. Their preparation is entrusted to
technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with may
participate in this preparatory work. International. governmental and non-governmental

2) The formal decisions or agreements of the IEC on technical matters, prepared by technical
committees on which all the National Committees having a special interest therein are
represented, express, as nearly as possible, an international consensus of opinion on the
subjects dealt with.
3) They have the form of recommendations for international use published in the form of
standards, technical reports or guides and they are accepted by the National Committees in
that sense.
4) In order to promote international unification, IEC National Committees undertake to apply
IEC International Standards transparently to the maximum extent possible in their national
and regional standards. Any divergence between the IEC Standard and the corresponding
national or regional standard shall be clearly indicated in the latter.
5) The IEC provides no marking procedure to indicate its approval and cannot be rendered
responsible for any equipment declared to be in conformity with one of its standards.
