This Part is Part 2-5 of GB 2099.
This Part was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces GB 2099.3-2008, Plugs and Socket-outlets for Household and
Similar Purposes – Part 2. Particular Requirements for Adaptors.
Compared with GB 2099.3-2008, the main technical changes of this Part are as follows.
-- it clarifies in Chapter 1 that this Part does not apply to cord extension socket-
outlets (cord extension sets);
-- it adds the definition of cord extension socket-outlet (cord extension set) in 3.12;
-- it modifies the definition of intermediate adaptor in 3.106;
-- it adds in Chapter 4 that “the plugs and socket-outlets of adaptors shall be as
specified in the standard requirements for plugs and socket-outlets of a relevant
country”;
-- it modifies 9.1 and 9.3 in accordance with the application places and requirements
in China;
-- it modifies the requirements of 10.4 in this Part for “external parts of plugs of
adaptors” in accordance with 10.4 of GB 2099.1-2008;
-- it adds in 10.5 of this Part the needle-flame test of figure 9 of GB 2099.1-2008 in
accordance with 10.5 of GB 2099.1-2008;
-- it replaces the last two sentences of 14.4 by. earthing contacts and neutral
contacts of adaptors shall, when in use, be blocked against rotation and
removable only with the aid of a tool, after dismantling the adaptor;
-- it deletes the content of 14.103 by referring to the document 23B/1173/CD;
-- it adds the requirements for the shutters of socket-outlets of adaptors in 14.106;
-- it adds needle-flame test in Chapter 28; and
-- it adds needle-flame test in Annex AA.
The following editorial modifications are made in this Part.
-- in accordance with the relevant provision of GB/T 1.1, it supplements in Chapter
1 “Application Scope” that “This Part of GB 2099 specified the technical
requirements including ratings, marking, protection against electrical shock,
construction, electrical properties and mechanical properties of adaptors”;
-- for coordination and cooperation with GB 2099.1-2008, it modifies the title of
Chapter 16;
-- for coordination and cooperation with GB 2099.1-2008, it modifies the sequential
numbers of figures referenced in this Part; and
-- it deletes some notes of IEC 60884-2-5.1995 which are applicable to other
countries and regions, such as NOTE to Chapter 1 and NOTE 2 to 14.23.2.
This Standard is implemented from April 14, 2017 with a transitional period ending on
October 13, 2018, i.e. the products which are produced before April 14, 2017 and meet
GB 2099.3-2008, Plugs and Socket-outlets for Household and Similar Purposes – Part
2. Particular Requirements for Adaptors, are permitted to be sold until October 13,
2018.
This Part was proposed by China Electrical Equipment Industry Association.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Standardization Technical
Committee on Electrical Appliances and Accessories (SAC/TC 67).

1 Application Scope
Replace Chapter 1 of GB 2099.1-2008 by.
This Part of GB 2099 specified the technical requirements including ratings, marking,
protection against electrical shock, construction, electrical properties and mechanical
properties of adaptors.
This Part applies to shuttered and non-shuttered, fused and non-fused adaptors for
a.c. only.
This Part does not apply to socket-outlets with cord extension (cord extension sets).
Fuses of fused adaptors concerned in this Part are not intended to protect appliance
or parts of them against overload.
NOTE – The intermediate adaptor products in GB 2099.3-2008 (definition 3.106 of GB
2099.3) is adjusted to GB 2099.7-2015, Plugs and Socket-outlets for Household and
Similar Purposes – Part 2-7. Particular Requirements for Extension Cord Socket-
outlets.
