This Part is Part 5 of GB 5296.
This Part replaces GB 5296.5-1996 "Instructions for use of products of consumer interest
- Instructions for use of toys".
Compared with GB 5296.5 - 1996, this Part has the following major changes.
--The structure was changed from 6 chapters in 1996 edition to 8 chapters;
--"Terms and definitions" was added (see Chapter 3);
--"Contents of instructions for use" in Chapter 4 of 1996 edition was revised from 12
provisions to 10 provisions (see Chapter 5 of this edition);
--Mark requirements of "age range" were revised (Section 4.4 of 1996 edition; Section
5.4 of this edition);
--Mark requirements of "safety warnings" were revised (Section 5.4 of 1996 edition;
Section 5.5 of this edition);
--Mark requirements of "main constituent or material" were revised (Section 4.3 of 1996
edition; Section 5.6 of this edition);
--Mark requirements of "use methods" were revised (Section 4.7 of 1996 edition; Section
5.7 of this edition);
--Mark requirements of "maintenance" were revised (Section 4.9 of 1996 edition; Section
5.8 of this edition);
--The requirements of "permanent label" were added (see Section 6.2);
--The requirements of "placing positions" were added in Chapter 7 (see Chapter 7);

1 Scope
This Part of GB 5296 specifies the basic principles, marking contents, forms, placing
positions, font style and font size requirements for the instructions for use of toys.
This Part is applicable to the instructions for use of toys.
2 Normative References
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Part of GB
5296, become provisions of this Part. For dated reference, subsequent amendments (excluding
correction) or revisions or any publications do not apply to this Part. However, the parties
who enter agreement based on this Part are encouraged to investigate the possibility of
applying the most recent editions of this Part. For undated references, the latest edition of the
normative document referred to applies to this Part.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions established in GB 5296.1 as well as the following ones are
applicable to this Part.
3.1
Toys
The products or materials designed or obviously pre-determined for children below 14
years old to play.
3.2
Instruction for use
8.2 The safety alerting such as "danger", "warning" and "caution" shall be greater than or
equal to font size four bold type, and the alerting contents shall be greater than or equal to
font size five bold type.
