Foreword
This Standard is identical to ISO 14731.1997 “Welding coordination - Tasks and
responsibilities”. To ensure the applicability and coordination of the standard,
this Standard, in the process of equivalent conversion, combined with the actual
application of China, has made necessary treatment for the translation and
wording of different language texts; has deleted some non-technical
descriptions, and is expressed in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1.
Annex A of this Standard is an informative annex.
This Standard was proposed by China Machinery Industry Federation.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee
55 on Welding of Standardization Administration of China.

Welding coordination - Tasks and responsibilities
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the attributes of tasks and responsibilities for relevant
personnel included in the coordination of welding-related activities.
Welding coordination requirements can be specified by a manufacturer, a
contract or an application standard. Welding coordination can be undertaken
by one or a number of persons.
2 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this Standard.
2.1 Manufacturing organization
Welding workshop or construction site with the same technical and quality
coordination conditions.
2.2 Welding coordination personnel
Personnel who are responsible for welding and related manufacturing activities,
and whose capabilities and knowledge have been proven through training,
education, and (or) related manufacturing experiences.
Welding coordination person is typically someone who is engaged in one or
more management and coordination tasks.
2.3 Welding inspection
Inspection, testing, and measurement of welding-related matters.
3 Tasks and responsibilities
3.1 Attribute of related activities
Table 1 can be used as a guide to determine the characteristics of related tasks
and responsibilities for welding coordination personnel. It may be supplemented
for some special application conditions. Not all the items shall necessarily apply
to all manufacturing organizations or quality system requirements, and a
selection should be made as appropriate.
