Rigidity of Flexing Area
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the test method for the footwear’s rigidity of flexing area.
This Standard is applicable to the finished shoes for general wearing; it is not
applicable to the finished shoes with sole thickness of flexing area more than 25mm.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 Rigidity of flexing area
Take the flexing area of the whole shoes as the rotary shaft to fix the toecap area; then
bend the rearward portion of the flexing area to the torque required by specified angle.
3.2 Torque
The product of distance between force in vertical direction and rotation center, its unit
is Newton • meter (N • m).
4 Principles
Use toecap holder to fix the toecap position of the whole shoes; bend the rearward
position of the flexing area to the predetermined angle along the bending shaft; then
measure the required bending torque to express the rigidity of flexing area of the
