Insulating films of crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV)
modules - Part 1. Polyethylene terephthalate films
1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 36289 specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection
rules, packaging, marking, transport, and storage of polyethylene terephthalate
films for crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules.
This Part applies to films made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and
masterbatch by molten casting and biaxially oriented stretching.

terephthalate film used for electrical insulation
GB/T 16935.1-2008 Insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage
systems - Part 1. Principles requirements and tests
It shall randomly take a roll of polyethylene terephthalate films of original width
for inspection. The test piece shall be cut at the middle part of 2 m or more from
the end and of 30 mm or more along the edge of the width.
5.1.2 Pretreatment conditions
Unless otherwise specified, all test pieces shall be treated at a temperature of
(23±2)°C and a relative humidity of (50±5)% for at least 24 h.
5.1.3 Test conditions
Unless otherwise specified, all tests shall be carried out at a temperature of
(23±2)°C and a relative humidity of (50±5)%.
5.2 Appearance
CUT the film of about 1 m, under natural light, CHECK and ASSESS by visual
method.
5.3 Thickness
It shall be in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 4 of GB/T 13542.2-2009.
5.4 Shrinkage
According to the provisions of Chapter 23 of GB/T 13542.2-2009, the resolution
of the measuring instrument shall not be less than 0.1 mm. Test conditions.
Heating temperature is (150±2)°C; heating time is 30 min.
5.5 Water vapor transmission rate
5.5.1 Electrolytic detection sensor method
According to the provisions of GB/T 21529, test conditions. Temperature is
(38±2)°C; relative humidity is (90±2)%. TEST 3 test pieces; TAKE the median
as the result and REPORT the maximum. It is recommended that this method
be preferred.
5.5.2 Infrared detection sensor method
According to the provisions of GB/T 26253, TEST 3 test pieces; TAKE the
median as the result and REPORT the maximum.
5.6 Tensile strength and elongation at break
According to the provisions of Chapter 11 of GB/T 13542.2-2009, the tensile
speed is 100 mm/min; the distance between marking lines is 100 mm. When
there is no dispute, the clamping distance can be 100 mm.
invalid.
5.12.3.8 During the PCT aging treatment, it shall avoid opening the test
chamber door halfway.
5.13 Damp heat steady state test (double 85 test)
According to the provisions of GB/T 2423.3, in the longitudinal direction on the
sample, CUT 5 test pieces of 200 mm×15 mm; HANG them in a constant
temperature and humidity test chamber at a temperature of (85±2)°C and a
relative humidity of (85±5)% for treatment. The test pieces shall not overlap or
contact the inner wall of the container. The treatment time is 1000 h ~ 3000 h
(The specific time is agreed upon by the supplier and the buyer). After the
treatment, TAKE the test pieces out; WIPE the surface water drops with filter
paper or absorbent cotton; and then PUT them in a room temperature dryer to
balance for more than 4h. According to Chapter 11 of GB/T 13542.2-2009, the
elongation at break of the 5 test pieces is measured. The tensile speed is 100
mm/min. The distance between clamps is 100 mm. The median is taken as the
result.
5.14 Ultra-violet (UV) resistance
According to the provisions of 11.10 in IEC 61215-1-1.2016, in the longitudinal
direction on the sample, CUT 5 test pieces of 200 mm×15 mm and 3 test pieces
of 100 mm×100 mm. The test temperature is (60±5)°C. The UV A wavelength
applied is 320 nm ~ 400 nm. The total irradiation energy shall be in accordance
with the provisions of Table 2. The minimum UV B wavelength applied is 300
nm ~ 320 nm. After the test, TAKE out the test pieces; DETECT and RECORD
whether there is delamination, blistering, cracking, or chalking in the test pieces.
For the test pieces of 200 mm×15 mm, according to the provisions of Chapter
11 of GB/T 13542.2-2009, their elongation at break is measured; the retention
rate of elongation at break is calculated; and the median is taken as the result.
For the test pieces of 100 mm×100 mm, according to the provisions of GB/T
3979 and GB/T 7921, their yellow index b is measured; ∆b is calculated; and
the median is taken as the result.
5.15 Surface gloss
According to the provisions of GB/T 8807, the test angle is 60°.
