1 Scope
This document specifies the terms and definitions, labeling objects, and labeling
requirements for labels for emission of volatile organic compounds from furniture.
This document applies to the label for the emission of volatile organic compounds from
furniture.
2 Normative references
The following documents contain the provisions which, through normative reference in
this document, constitute the essential provisions of this document. For the dated
referenced documents, only the versions with the indicated dates are applicable to this
document; for the undated referenced documents, only the latest version (including all
the amendments) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 label for emission of volatile organic compounds
An information label indicating that the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
from furniture meets the requirements of specified standards.
4 Labeling objects
When the emission of VOCs from wooden furniture meets the requirements of GB/T
42996.1-2023, or the emission of VOCs from upholstered furniture meets the
requirements of GB/T 42996.2-2023, its product manufacturers can use the label for
5.1.4 Pattern requirements
5.1.4.1 The marking of logo patterns can be carried out by posting, spraying, or
imprinting. Among them, when marking by posting and spraying, the color of the logo
pattern shall comply with the provisions of Appendix A. When marking by imprinting,
the true color of the product can be used.
5.1.4.2 The logo pattern shall be clearly visible and shall not impair the performance of
the furniture or damage the furniture coating.
5.1.4.3 The logo pattern shall be pasted or hung on an obvious part of the furniture, or
it can be marked on the furniture or in the instructions for use.
5.2 Identification label information
5.2.1 Labeling method
The logo pattern should be equipped with an identification label, and the identification
label should be placed on the right side or below the logo pattern.
5.2.2 Information content
The identification label shall contain at least the following information:
a) Company name, production date/batch number;
b) Product name, specification, and model;
c) Product execution standard;
d) Types and limits of VOCs specified in the execution standards;
e) The statement that "the emission of volatile organic compounds from this
furniture meets the limit requirements".
5.2.3 Division of identification label functional areas
5.2.3.1 The identification label consists of two functional areas: "title area" and
"information area", see Figure B.1 of Appendix B.
5.2.3.2 The "title area" is located at the top of the label and displays the name
information of the label. The left side of the title area is the corporate logo, and the right
which corresponds to "EMISSION OF VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS FROM
FURNITURE" in English capital letters, arranged with Chinese characters at the top
and English characters at the bottom.
