Foreword
This Part of GB/T 3903 identically adopts the International Standard ISO 22653.2003
“Footwear - Test methods for lining and insocks - Static friction” (English version).
For easy use, this Part has the following editorial modifications.
a) “this International Standard” is modified into “this Part”;
b) USE the decimal point “.” to replace the comma “,” used as decimal point;
c) DELETE the foreword of the International Standard;
d) DELETE the table of content of the International Standard;
e) for the EU standards referenced in ISO 20865.2002, this Part directly reference
the corresponding national standards;
f) DELETE the annex of the International Standard;
g) CHANGE the unit in the International Standard INTO China’s legal unit of
measurement.
This Part was proposed by China Light Industry Council.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Footwear
of Standardization Administration of China.

1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 3903 specifies two methods of assessing the frictional properties of
lining and insocks.
This Part is applicable to all kinds of lining and insocks of footwear.
2 Normative references
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Part through
reference in this Part of GB/T 3903. For dated references, the subsequent
amendments (excluding corrigendum) or revisions do not apply to this Part, however,
parties who reach an agreement based on this Part are encouraged to study if the
latest versions of these documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest
edition of the referenced document applies.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Part of GB/T 3903, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
coefficient of static friction (μS)
The ratio of the force necessary to cause the tangential separation of two stationary
surfaces to the perpendicular force acting upon the two surfaces.
3.2
coefficient of kinetic friction (μK)
The ratio of the force necessary to maintain a constant velocity between two surfaces
in contact to the perpendicular force acting upon the two surfaces.
