Package, Mark and Inspection
Document for Cold-Rolled Product
1 Scope
This Standard specifies requirements for packaging, marking and inspection
documents for cold-rolled steel sheets and steel strips, coated steel sheets and steel
strips, and cold-rolled electrical steel strips (coils). Taking into account the usage habits
of manufacturers and users of cold-rolled products, steel strips are referred to as steel
coils below.
2 Normative References
The following documents are essential to the application of this Standard. For the dated
documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this Standard;
for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) is
applicable to this Standard.
GB/T 18253 Steel and Steel Products – Types of Inspection Documents
3 General Requirements
3.1 The steel sheets and steel coils shall be packed neatly and bundled firmly. The
handwriting of the marking shall be clear and pasted firmly. The packaging shall ensure
that the products are not loose, damp, deformed or damaged during normal
transportation and storage.
NOTE 1: It is generally believed that product packaging does not reduce the risk of oxidation
on the surface of the product. The main reason is that the current product packaging cannot be
100% airtight and watertight, so 100% surface oxidation resistance of the product cannot be
guaranteed.
NOTE 2: The prerequisites for packaging to provide sufficient surface protection for the product
are as follows: ①In the logistics process, all parties shall handle, transport and store the
product in accordance with the requirements of the specification; ②The product is put into use
within the time specified in the standard.
NOTE 3: In order to avoid the loss caused to the user due to the oxidation of the product surface,
5 Packaging of Steel Coils
5.1 The horizontal packaging types (methods) of steel coils are shown in Table 2 and
Figures 5~10. For the packaging types (methods) shown in Figures 5~9, the supplier
can choose to use the no-buckle bundling method. At this time, the buckle and buckle
gasket are cancelled.
5.2 Vertical packaging types (methods) of steel coils are shown in Table 3 and Figure
11.
5.3 The packaging code for steel coils is set based on Figures 5~11, after appropriate
additions and reductions to the packaging components.
6 Marking
As required, the content of the marking may include: trademark, supplier name,
product name, standard or technical conditions, specifications, bundle/package
number, user contract number, furnace number, coating weight, color, manufacturing
date, weighing method, net weight, gross weight, receiving organization, protection
mark, stacking mark, certification mark, etc.
7 Inspection Documents
7.1 The type of inspection documents shall comply with the provisions in GB/T 18253.
Under normal circumstances, the purchaser shall indicate the type of inspection
documents when ordering. When the inspection document type is not specified, the
inspection document type shall be determined by the supplier.
NOTE 1: The quality certificate is a form of inspection document.
NOTE 2: There are four types of inspection documents in GB/T 18253-2018, namely "2.1", "2.2",
"3.1" and "3.2", among which "2.1" and "2.2" are the inspection document types based on non-
specified inspections; "3.1" and "3.2" are inspection document types based on specified
inspections. "Non-specified inspection" refers to the inspection conducted by the manufacturer
in accordance with its own procedures to determine whether products produced by the same
production process meet the requirements of the order; "specified inspection" refers to the
inspections on the delivered products or test units consisting of some of them before delivery
and according to the technical requirements of the order to verify whether they meet the
requirements of the order.
7.2 The content of the inspection documents can be indicated as required: supplier
name, trademark, product name, product order standards or technical conditions,
