Foreword
This Part of GB/T 889 is one national standard of “Prevailing torque type
hexagon nuts” series. This series includes.
- GB/T 889.1, Prevailing torque type hexagon nuts (with non-metallic insert),

This Part is the first part of GB/T 889.
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces GB/T 889.1-2000 Prevailing torque type hexagon nuts
(with non-metallic insert), style 1. Compared with GB/T 889.1-2000, the main
technical changes are as follows.
- deleted “If other technical requirements are required, ... select among
(such as GB/T 3098.9 and GB/T 3103.1)” (Clause 1 of Edition 2000);
- unified reference thread standards as GB/T 193, GB/T 9145 (Clause 2);

1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 889 specifies type sizes, technical conditions and marks of
prevailing torque type hexagon nuts (with non-metallic insert), style 1.
This Standard is applicable to Prevailing torque type hexagon nuts (with non-
metallic insert), style 1 of which thread sizes are M3 ~ M36, performance grades
are 5, 8 and 10, the product grades are A and B. Grade A is used for nuts of
which D ≤ 16 mm; Grade B is used for nuts of which D > 16 mm.
NOTE This kind of nut is equivalent to GB/T 6170 plus the effective torque part.
