Foreword
FZ/T 01057 "Test Method for Identification of Textile Fibers" consists of the following
nine parts.
— Part 1. General Introduction;
— Part 2. Burning Behavior;
— Part 3. Microscopy;
— Part 4. Solubility;
— Part 5. Qualitative Observation of Colour-production for Chloring and Nitrogen;
— Part 6. Fibre Melting Point;
— Part 7. Density Gradient Column Method;
— Part 8. Infrared Absorption Spectrum;
— Part 9. Birefringence.
This part is Part 2 of FZ/T 01057.
This part replaces FZ/T 01057.2-1999 Test Method for Identification of Textile Fibres -
Burning Behavior.
Compared with FZ/T 01057-1999, the former 11 parts were integrated and divided into
9 parts in this revision, with the order of each part being adjusted too. Namely, the
former Part 5 "Staining Test Method" and Part 11 "Systematic Identification Method"
were deleted. The former Part 6 "Qualitative Observation of Colour-production for
Chloring and Nitrogen" was changed to Part 5; the former Part 7 "Fibre Melting Point"
to Part 6; the former Part 9 "Density Gradient Column Method" to Part 7; and the
former Part 10 "Birefringence" to Part 9.
Compared with FZ/T 01057.2-1999, this part has the main changes as follows.
1) The name is changed to "Test Method for Identification of Textile Fibers - Part
2. Burning Behavior"
2) In the chapter of "Scope", the provision that "this standard is not applicable to
fibers that have been subjected to flame-proof treatment" is added;
3) The chapter "Normative References" is added;
Test Method for Identification of Textile Fibers – Part 2.
Burning Behavior
1 Scope
This part of FZ/T 01057 specifies a kind of test method for identification of textile
fibers-burning behavior.
This method is applicable to the preliminary identification of various textile fibers but is
not applicable to the fibers that have been subjected to flame-proof treatment.
2 Normative References
The following normative documents contain the provisions which, through reference in
this part of FZ/T 01057, constitute the provisions of this part. For dated references, the
subsequent amendments (excluding correction) or revisions of these publications do
not apply. However, all parties who reach an agreement according to this specification
are encouraged to study whether the latest editions of these documents are
applicable. For undated references, the latest editions apply.
FZ/T 01057.1 Test Method for Identification of Textile Fibres - Part 1. General
Introduction
3 Principle
Distinguish the category of the fiber, according to its smells when being brought close
to, contacted with and away from the flame and according to the characteristics of the
residues after being burnt.
4 Instruments and Tools
Alcohol lamp, tweezers, scissors and microscope etc.
5 Test Sample
Sample and prepare according to FZ/T 01057.1.
6 Procedures
Appendix A
