Motor vehicles - Hood latch system
1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements for motor vehicles’ hood latch system.
This standard applies to category M and category N automobiles.
2 Normative references
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard through
reference in this Standard. For the dated references, the subsequent amendments
(excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this Standard; however, parties who
reach an agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to study if the latest versions
of these documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the
referenced document applies.

3 Terms and definitions
3.1
Hood
All outward-movable body panels in front of the windshield, which are used to cover
the engine, luggage, storage, or batteries.
4 Requirements
4.1 Each hood (cover) shall have a hood (cover) latch system.
4.2 If the front-opening hood will partially or completely obstruct the driver's forward
view through the windshield in any open position, then the hood latch system shall have
a second latch position OR install a second hood latch system on the hood.
