Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces GB/T 21980-2008, Current technical criterion for
sportswear and exposure suit. Compared with GB/T 21980-2008, the major technical
changes are as follows.
-- it changes the English name of this Standard (see cover; cover of 2008 edition);
-- it changes the scope of this Standard (see Clause 1; Clause 1 of 2008 edition);
-- it changes the normative references (see Clause 2; Clause 2 of 2008 edition);
-- it changes the terms and definitions (see Clause 3; Clause 3 of 2008 edition);
-- it changes the instructions for use (see 4.1; 4.1 of 2008 edition);
-- it changes the general physicochemical property requirements and assesses
products by classifying them into top-quality goods, qualified goods and so on (see
Table 1; Table 1 of 2008 edition);
-- it adjusts the item names and the expression method for the indicators for
performance appraisal, including fibre content, formaldehyde content, pH value,
decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dye, foreign odor, colour fastness,
seam slippage, pants back rise seam strength and fabric tearing strength (see
Table 1; Table 1 of 2008 edition);
-- it adds the requirements for phenol yellow colour fastness, complex colour
fastness to light-perspiration, wear-resisting property, tensile elasticity recovery,
residual metal needle (see Table 1);
-- it changes the requirements for colour fastness to light (see Table 1; Table 1 of
2008 edition);
-- it changes the content of the note on colour fastness to wet rubbing (see footnote
b of Table 1; notes 2 and 3 of Table 1 of 2008 edition);
-- it adds the notes on phenol yellow colour fastness, colour fastness to transfer in
joints, complex colour fastness to light-perspiration and tensile elasticity recovery
(see footnotes c, d, e, f of Table 1);
-- it changes the notes on protecting suits and seam slippage degree (see footnote
a of Table 1; note 4 of Table 1 of 2008 edition);
-- it adds the functional requirements for sportswear and protecting suits (see Table
General technical specification for
sportswear and protecting suits
1 Scope

packaging, transportation and storage requirements for sportswear and protecting
suits.
This Standard applies to sportswear and protecting suits, which are made using textile
fabric as the principal raw material.
This Standard does not apply to the clothing for infants aged 36 months or less.
