1 Scope
This Standard specifies the coding principles, data structures, notation methods, and
its general position rules of the unified coding (hereinafter referred to as “coding”) for
auto parts.
This Standard is applicable to the preparation of the unified coding and identification
for auto parts; it is used for information acquisition and data exchange for auto parts.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions defined in GB/T 12905 are applicable to this
document.
3.1 Global Trade Item Number (GTIN)
Application identifier 01 consists of 14 digits, which is globally unique identification
code for trade items (including products and services).
3.2 Parts number
Auto parts manufacturers make the physical numbers against their manufactured
parts, which also includes the management numbers determined due to the
technology, manufacture and management demands of the manufacturers, the
application identifier is 240.
3.3 Parts lot
Code of parts of the belonged batch, application identifier is 10, which is expressed by
a group of digits, letters or combinations.
3.4 Part serial number
Uniquely identify the running number of single-piece of certain kind of parts in the
same batch, application identifier is 21, which is expressed by a group of digits, letters,
and combination of digits.
3.5 Supply code in customer plant
Customer distributes the internal vendor code to the supplier, application identifier is
92, which is expressed by a group of digits or letters.
3.6 Spare parts code in customer plant
Customer provides the spare parts codes for the products supplied by the supplier,
application identifier is 241, which is expressed by a group of digits or letters.
3.7 Customer purchase code
Parts purchasing order code, application identifier is 400, which is expressed by a
group of digits or letters.
3.8 Direct Part Mark (DPM)
A preparation technology marked directly on the part surface; it does not require
marking carriers such as paper or label, which is also called body identification.
