Foreword
Jar Candle series product is one of the main products of the candle industry. In order to
ensure product quality, this industry standard is developed.
This Standard was drafted with reference to the German standard RAL-GZ 041/1 (2005)
(General Quality and Inspection Specifications for candles), and the American Material and
Testing Association standard ASTM F 2417-2004 (Standard Specification for Fire Safety for
Candles).
This Standard was proposed by China Light Industry Federation.
This Standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Toothpaste and Wax Product
Standardization Center.
Main drafting organizations of this Standard. Qingdao Jinwang Chemistry Co., Ltd.,
Zhongnan Candle Co., Ltd., Quan Wei Candle Co., Ltd., Dingzhou City Jinqiao Candles
Co., Ltd., and National Light Industry Toothpaste and Wax Product Quality Supervision and

Jar Candle
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the jar candle’s terms and definitions, requirements, test methods,
inspection rules, signs, packaging, transportation, storage, and shelf life.
This Standard applies to jar candle products.
2 Normative References
The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard,
become provisions of this Standard. For dated reference, subsequent amendments
(excluding the correction) or revisions of these publications do not apply to this Standard.
However, parties who enter into agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to
investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated
below. For undated references, the latest edition of the reference document is applicable to
this Standard.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this Standard.
3.1 Jar candle
The candle made of plant wax and/or paraffin as the main material, and filled in fixed
containers through thermal processing.
4 Requirements
4.1 Performance indicators
Performance indicators of finished product shall comply with the provisions in Table 1.

TAKE 10 samples to weigh, COMPARE with the marked net content, it shall comply with
the provisions of Decree 75, State Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection
Quarantine.
6 Inspection Rules
6.1 Inspection classification
Product inspection is divided into factory inspection and type inspection.
6.1.1 Factory inspection
Before shipped out of factory, each batch of products need to be inspected and qualified by
the factory quality department. Factory inspection items include color, odor, eccentricity of
wax core, exposed length of wax core, burning performance, and safety.
6.1.2 Type inspection
Type inspection items include all the requirements of this Standard. It shall be conducted
annually under normal production. It shall also be conducted under one of the following
conditions.
a) When there is greatly changes on raw materials or technology, or the recipe adjustments
may affect product quality;
b) When the production is resumed after long-term shutdown;
c) When there is significant difference between the factory inspection result and the latest
type inspection result.
d) When the type inspection is required by Industry Management Department, or the
National Quality Supervision Department.
6.1.3 Batch and sampling
The products produced by same batch of material and the same batch of specifications are
deemed as same batch. Samples complying with inspection quantity shall be randomly
sampled from each batch of products. After inspected and qualified by the factory
7.2 Packaging
Under the condition of not damaging the product quality, product packaging and packaging
materials shall be defined by supplier and purchaser. Transport packaging carton shall be
firm. Each box shall be accompanied with certificate.
7.3 Transportation
AVOID severe vibration, shock, rain and sunlight during transportation. HANDLE with care
when loading / unloading.
7.4 Storage
Products shall be stored in less than 35°C, ventilated and dry warehouse. It is prohibited to
store near heat sources. It shall not be directly contacted with ground or wall when stacking.
Stacking height shall not exceed 2m.
7.5 Shelf life
The date shall be marked on the visual surface.
a) Shelf life shall be marked with production date. It shall be marked in sequence of year
and month, the sequence shall not be reversed [Translator. For July 2014, it shall be
marked with “2014-07” / “2014, 07” etc.];
b) Shelf Life. Shelf life of burning performance is 1 year; shelf life of shape, odor and color
shall be defined by the manufacturer.
