This Standard replaces GB/T 1173-1995 Casting aluminium alloys.
Compared with GB/T 1173-1995, the main technical modifications in this
Standard are as follows.
- modified the chemical composition of the alloy; the mass fraction of Mg
in ZAlSi7Mg1A (ZL114A) alloy was modified from 0.45% ~ 0.6% to 0.45%
~ 0.75%; the mass fraction of Be was modified from 0.04% ~ 0.07% to 0
~ 0.07%;
- added ZAlSi7Cu2Mg alloy designation;
- modified the mass fraction of impurity element Sn from 0 ~ 0.01% to 0 ~
0.05%;
- added the inspection method for alloy chemical composition
spectroscopy;
- modified sampling methods for alloy chemical composition and
mechanical properties;
- added re-inspection rules for unqualified hardness.
This Standard was proposed by and shall be under the jurisdiction of National
Technical Committee on Casting of Standardization Administration of China
(SAC/TC 54).

3 Alloy designation and code
3.1 Alloy designation representation method
The casting aluminum alloy designation representation method shall be in
accordance with the provisions of GB/T 8063.
(determined by the purchaser) are essential elements. The remaining
impurity elements are analyzed only when the purchaser requires.
4.1.2 Aluminum silicon series require to use sodium or strontium
(intermediate alloy containing sodium salt and aluminum strontium) to carry
out the deterioration treatment for deteriorated alloy. Under the premise of not
reducing the use performance of the alloy, it shall allow to use other modifiers
or metamorphic methods for deterioration treatment.
4.1.3 When used in marine environment, the copper content in ZL101 alloy
shall not exceed 0.1%.
4.1.4 In metallic casting, the maximum silicon content in ZL203 alloy shall
be 3.0%.
4.1.5 When the iron content in ZL105 alloy is greater than 0.4%, the
manganese content shall be greater than half of the iron content.
4.1.6 When ZL201 alloy, ZL201A alloy are used to make parts that work
under high temperature conditions, it shall add 0.05% ~ 0.20% of zirconium.
4.1.7 In order to improve the mechanical properties, 0.08% ~ 0.20% of
yttrium shall be allowed to contain in ZL101 alloy, ZL102 alloy, 0.08% ~ 0.20%
of titanium in ZL103. At this time the iron content shall not be greater than
0.3%.
4.1.8 The aluminum alloy product contact with food is not allowed to contain
beryllium. Arsenic content is not more than 0.015%. Zinc content is not more
than 0.3%. Lead content is not more than 0.05%.
4.1.9 When the total impurity content is used to express the impurity content,
in the absence of specific provisions, the content of each unlisted element
shall not exceed 0.05%.
4.2 Mechanical properties
4.2.1 Mechanical properties of single cast sample of casting aluminum alloy
under sand casting, metal casting, melt mold casting and shell casting
conditions are shown in Table 3.
Casting aluminum alloy uses single cast or attached sample to inspect the
mechanical properties. It also can use cast body specimen extracted on the
same furnace cast to inspect. Acceptance indicators for cast specimen and
cast body specimen are in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 9438.
4.2.2 The hardness values shall be inspected in accordance with Table 3
requirements required by the purchaser. The hardness values shall be used
only for references but not for acceptance basis.
6.4 Determination and re-inspection
6.4.1 When the first analysis result of alloy chemical composition is
unqualified, it shall allow to re-sample to analyze the unqualified element.
Should the second analysis still fail, the chemical composition of this melting
furnace shall be determined as unqualified.
6.4.2 For a melting furnace alloy, three cast or heat treated state single cast
samples in the first submission shall be carried out for the determination of
mechanical properties. If the mechanical properties of two or more samples
comply with the provisions of Table 3, the mechanical properties of this
furnace of alloy shall be determined as qualified. If the first inspection of
single casting sample fails, it shall re-conduct sampling after heat treatment
for the inspection. If it still fails, the third heat treatment shall be permitted. If
the test results are still unqualified, the mechanical properties of this furnace
of alloy shall be determined as unqualified.
6.4.3 The heat treatment of the single casting sample must be heat treated
with the same batch of castings.
6.4.4 Various casting methods allow the use of sand or metal mold samples
to determine the mechanical properties. And the acceptance shall be carried
out according to corresponding indicators of sand or metal mold samples.
6.4.5 Hardness can be repeated for heat...
