Foreword
All the technical contents of this Part of GB 13140 are mandatory.
GB 13140 Connecting Devices for Household and Similar Fixed Electrical Installations can be
divided into two Parts:
Part 1: General Requirements (GB 13140.1)
Part 2: Particular Requirements (GB 13140.2 ~ GB 13140.5)
--- Particular Requirements for Connecting Devices as Separate Entities with Screw-Type
Clamping Units;
--- Particular Requirements for Connecting Devices as Separate Entities with Screwless-
Type Clamping;
--- Particular Requirements for Connecting Devices as Separate Entities with Insulation
Piercing Clamping Units;
--- Particular Requirements for Twist-On Connecting Devices.
This Part is Part 2 of GB 13140 “Particular Requirements for Connecting Devices as Separate
Entities with Screwless-Type Clamping” with the No. of GB 13140.3.
This Part shall be used in conjunction with GB 13140.1.
This Part equivalently adopts IEC 60998-2-2:2002 Connecting Devices for Low-Voltage
Circuits for Household and Similar Purposes – Part 2-2: Particular Requirements for
Connecting Devices as Separate Entities with Screwless-Type Clamping Units.
This Part replaced GB 13140.3-1998 Connecting Devices for Low Voltage Circuits for
Household and Similar Purposes - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Connecting Devices as
Separate Entities with Screwless-Type Clamping Units. Compared with GB 13140.3-1998, the
major changes of this Part are as follows:
1) The rated connecting capacity range in this Part is “0.2mm2~35mm2”; and the rated
connecting capacity range in the 1998 version standard is “0.5mm2~35mm2”. The
standards required to be met have changed from “IEC 60228” to “GB/T 3956-2008 or
GB/T 18213-2000”.
2) In this Part, some content is adjusted forward and backward; such as moving the terminal
marking from Clause 7 to Clause 8; and moving 14.101 and 14.102 to 10.105 and 10.106.
3) In Table 101, the comparison with the AWG wire gauge used in North American countries
is isolated and listed in Annex BB.
4) Add “bending test” to Clause 14.
5) Add 15.4 to give an example of temperature rise test.
6) Add the time requirement for applying the test current to 15.101.
7) Delete the content of “distance to penetrate the sealant” from Clause 17.
8) Add a Clause of “Chapter 20 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Requirements”.
9) Add two informative Annexes, that is, Annex BB (approximate relationship between the
conductors of cross-sectional area in mm2 and the American Wire Gauge (AWG) sizes
as used in North America) and Annex CC (examples of temperature rise test according
to 15.4).
This Part’s Annex AA is normative; and Annexes BB and CC are informative.
This Part was proposed by China Electrical Equipment Industry Association.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Electrical
Accessories of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 67).
Drafting organizations of this Part: China National Electric Apparatus Research Institute;
Ningbo Supu Electronics Co., Ltd.; Zhejiang Yuehua Telecom Co., Ltd.; WAGO Electronic
(Tianjin) Co., Ltd.; and Guangzhou Vkan Certification and Testing Technology Research Institute.
Chief drafting staffs of this Part: Xu Yanrong, Ma Dingguo, Wang Sheng, and Mao Yongzhi.
The historical edition replaced by this Standard is as follows:
--- GB 13140.3-1998.
Connecting Devices for Low-Voltage Circuits for Household
and Similar Purposes – Part 2: Particular Requirements for
Connecting Devices as Separate Entities with Screwless-
Type Clamping Units
1 Scope
This Clause of GB 13140.1-2008 is applicable.
Addition:
This Part of GB 13140 applies to connecting devices with screwless-type clamping units
primarily suitable for connecting unprepared conductors.
In this Part, screwless-type terminals are referred to as terminals.
NOTE: This standard does not include insulation piercing connecting devices (GB 13140.4), twist-on
connecting devices (GB 13140.5) and flat, quick-connect terminations (GB 17196).

The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Part of GB 13140 through
reference in this Standard. For dated references, the subsequent amendments (excluding
corrigendum) or revisions do not apply to this Standard, however, parties who reach an
agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to study if the latest versions of these
documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document
