Foreword
GB/T 9766 Test Method for Tyre Valves is divided into seven parts:
---Part 1: Test Method for Tube Clamp-in Valves;
---Part 2: Rubber Base Valves Test Methods;
---Part 3: Test Methods for Snap-in Valves;
---Part 4: Test Methods for Tubeless Clamp-in Valves;
---Part 5: Test Methods for Large Core Chamber Tyre Valves;
---Part 6: Test Method for Core;
---Part 7: Test Methods for Components.
This is Part 5 of GB/T 9766.
This Part was drafted in accordance with the rules provided in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part serves as a replacement of GB/T 9766.5-2009 Test Method for Tyre Valve - Part 5:
Test Methods for Tyre Valves for Large Core Chamber. In comparison with GB/T 9766.5-2009,
the main technical changes are as follows:
---The accuracy grade of the pressure gauge is modified (see 4.3; 4.3 of Version 2009);
---The valve base and test plate hole size corresponding to the tubeless valves are added
(see Table 1);
---The valve hole size and plate thickness are modified (see Figure 2; Figure 2 of Version
2009);
---The valve sealing performance test is modified (see 5.1.1, 5.1.2 and 5.1.3; 5.1.1, 5.1.2
and 5.1.3 of Version 2009);
---The tubeless valve and valve hole sealing performance test is modified (see 5.2.1, 5.2.2,
5.2.3 and 5.2.4; 5.2.1, 5.2.2 and 5.2.3 of Version 2009);
---“The entrained gas during the installation is not considered as a leak” is added (see 5.1.2,
5.1.3, 5.2.3 and 5.2.4);
---The corrosion resistance test is modified (see Chapter 6; Chapter 6 of Version 2009);
---The assembly torque test is modified (see Chapter 7; Chapter 7 of Version 2009).
This Part was proposed by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation.
Test Methods for Tyre Valves - Part 5: Test Methods for
Large Core Chamber Tyre Valves
1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 9766 specifies the terms and definitions, test equipment, instruments and
apparatuses of large core chamber tyre valves (hereinafter referred to as “valves”) test, as well
as sealing performance test, corrosion resistance test and assembly torque test.
This Part is applicable to the test of valves for pneumatic tyres of large-scale construction
machinery, such as: heavy-duty dump trucks, loaders, excavators, scrapers, road rollers and
graders, etc.

4 Test Equipment, Instruments and Apparatuses
4.1 High-temperature test chamber: the temperature in the chamber can reach above 200 C and
the temperature fluctuation is 2 C.
4.2 Low-temperature test chamber: the temperature in the chamber can reach below 40 C
and the temperature fluctuation is 2 C.
4.3 Pressure gauge: with an indicating value of 0 kPa ~ 2,500 kPa and an accuracy grade of
Grade 1.6.
4.4 Stopwatch.
4.5 Special-purpose torque wrench: with an accuracy grade of 5%.
4.6 Valve sealing performance test device (see Figure 1).
4.7 Valve and valve hole sealing performance test device (see Figure 2).
4.8 Salt spray test chamber: the temperature in the chamber is 10 C ~ 50 C and the salt spray
precipitation rate is 1 mL/(80 cm2 h) ~ 2 mL/(80 cm2 h).
5 Sealing Performance Test
5.1 Valve Sealing Performance Test
5.1.1 Valve sealing performance test at room temperature
At room temperature, use a special-purpose torque wrench to install Type H02 valve core that
complies with GB 1796.6 in the test valve core chamber of the test device shown in Figure 1
with a torque of 0.34 N m ~ 0.56 N m. Put the test device into the water; maintain the axis
of the valve base and the axis of the valve core at the same horizontal positon, and the distance
from the water surface shall not exceed 30 mm. Introduce (35 5) kPa of compressed air;
within 60 s, observe and record whether there are bubbles escaping from the joints between the
valve body or the core sleeve and the valve core, the valve body and the valve base, the core
sleeve or coupling sleeve and the valve base.
The entrained gas during the installation is not considered as a leak.
