Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020
"Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of
standardizing documents".
This document replaces NY/T 893-2014 "Green food - Millet and millet flour".
Compared with NY/T 893-2014, except for structural adjustment and editorial changes,
the main changes are as follows:
a) MODIFY name of the standard into "Green food - Foxtail millet, common millet
and products";
b) ADD the scope of application, including unhulled raw grains of foxtail millet and
broomcorn millet (see Chapter 1);
c) ADD the requirements on the use of fertilizers and pesticides (see 4.1);
d) ADD the sensory requirements for foxtail millet and common millet (see Table 1
in 4.4);
e) ADD the index requirements for protein and fat (see Table 4 in 4.5.3);
f) ADD the limit requirements for prochloraz, triazophos, omethoate, prometon,
atrazine, carbofuran, imidacloprid (see Table 5 in 4.6);
g) CHANGE the limit requirements for metalaxyl (see Table 5 in 4.6; Appendix A
of the 2014 edition);
h) CHANGE the index requirements for foxtail millet flour moisture (see Table 4 in
4.5.3; Table 2 in 4.5.2 of the 2014 edition);
i) DELETE the limit requirement of dimethoate (see 4.6 of the 2014 edition);
j) DELETE the limit requirement for fatty acid value (see 4.5.2 of the 2014 edition).
This document was proposed by the Agricultural Product Quality and Safety
Supervision Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, inspection rules, signs
and labels, packaging, transportation and storage of green food foxtail millet, common
millet and products.
This standard applies to green food foxtail millet, common millet and products,
including foxtail millet, broomcorn millet, milled foxtail millet, milled glutinous
broomcorn millet, milled non-glutinous broomcorn millet, as well as the processed
powder products.

reference in this Standard. For the dated documents, only the versions with the dates

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions, which are defined in GB/T 11766, GB/T 13358, GB/T 13356,
GB/T 22515-2008, as well as the following terms and definitions, apply to this
document.
3.1
Foxtail millet, millet in husk
Caryopsis of Gramineae herbaceous cultivated millet [Setaria italca var. Germanica
(Mill.) Schred]. The chaff has red, orange, yellow, white, purple, black and other
colors. The fruit is oval in shape. According to its grain nature, it is divided into
japonica type and waxy type.

Broomcorn millet (glutinous)
Also known as millet and soft millet. The caryopsis of cultivated broomcorn millet,
which is spherical or oval; the glume is milky white, light yellow or red; the fruit is
white, yellow or brown; the rice grains are opaque; the rice nature is waxy.

Broomcorn millet (non-glutinous)
Also known as millet, hard broomcorn. Caryopsis of Gramineae herbaceous plant
Cultivation Millet. The seed skin is yellow; the grain is translucent, shiny; the rice
nature is japonica.

Milled foxtail millet, millet
Also known as millet, which is a granular product that is milled and processed to
remove the hull. According to its different grain nature, it is divided into japonica
millet and waxy millet.

Milled glutinous broomcorn millet
Also known as big yellow rice and soft yellow rice, which is a granular product
obtained by milling millet to remove the hull. The rice grains are opaque; the rice
nature is waxy.

4 Requirements
4.1 Production environment
It shall comply with the requirements of NY/T 391. The use of fertilizers in the
production process shall be implemented, in accordance with the requirements of NY/T
