LED panels
1 Scope
This document specifies the optical parameters, measurement principles, test conditions,
measurement equipment, environmental illumination measurement and maximum
brightness measurement requirements for outdoor LED displays.
This document is applicable to the measurement of full-color, multi-color or
monochrome LED displays installed outdoors.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T 36101,
JGJ/T 163, SJ/T 11141 as well as the followings apply.
3.1 LED display
A display composed of an array of LED display devices, which uses LED pixels to

As the display terminal of multimedia facilities, outdoor LED displays shall use
illuminance meters, brightness meters, laser rangefinders, steel tape measures and other
equipment that meet the measurement performance requirements to measure the
environmental illumination and the maximum brightness of the outdoor LED display.
6 Test conditions
The measurement shall be carried out when the horizontal visibility is not less than 2
km. Unless otherwise specified, the test environment temperature is 5℃~35℃, and the
relative humidity is 20%~80%.
7 Measuring equipment
7.1 Illuminometer
The measuring range shall meet the requirements of (0.1~2×104) lx. The metrological
performance in the measurement range of (1~3×103) lx shall meet the requirements of
JJG 245-2005 standard technical indicators. In the measurement range of (3×103~2×104)
lx, the expanded uncertainty of the illuminance value shall reach Urel=2% (k=2).
7.2 Brightness meter
The measurement range shall meet the requirements of (0.1~2×105) cd/m2.The
metrological performance in the measurement range of (0.1~1×103) cd/m2 shall meet
the requirements of JJG 211-2021 standard level or first-level technical indicators. In
the measurement range of (1×103~2×105) cd/m2, the expanded uncertainty of the
brightness value shall reach Urel= 3% (k=2).
7.3 Laser rangefinder
The measuring range shall meet the requirements of (0~50) m. The measuring
performance shall meet the requirements of level 0 or level 1 technical indicators
specified in JJG 966-2010.
7.4 Steel tape
The measuring range shall meet the requirements of (0~10) m. The metrological
performance shall meet the requirements of level I or level II technical indicators
specified in JJG 4-2015.
