Foreword
This Document was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for
Standardization – Part 1: Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents.
This Document replaced GB/T 16288-2008 Marking of Plastics Products. Compared with
GB/T 16288-2008, the major technical changes of this Document are as follows besides the
structural adjustments and editorial modifications:
--- Change some contents in "Supplementary Descriptions" (see 5.5 of this Edition; 5.5 of
the 2008 Edition);
--- Add "Examples of Markings" (see 5.6.5 of this Edition);
--- Change the requirements for plastic regenerants in "Marking System" (see 5.6 of this
Edition; 5.6 of the 2008 Edition);
--- Changed some material terms (see Appendix B of this Edition; Appendix A of the 2008
Edition).
This Document modified and adopted ISO 11469:2016 Plastics – Generic Identification and
Marking of Plastics Products.
Compared with ISO 11469:2016, this Document made the following structural adjustments:
--- 5.6 corresponds to Clause 5 in ISO 11469:2016, of which 5.6.1 corresponds to 5.1.1 in
ISO 11469:2016; 5.6.2 corresponds to 5.1.2 in ISO 11469:2016; 5.6.3 corresponds to
5.1.3 in ISO 11469:2016; and 5.6.4 corresponds to 5.1.4 of ISO 11469:2016.
Compared with ISO 11469:2016, this Document has many technical differences, which are
marked with a vertical single line (|) in the outer margin of the clauses involved. These technical
differences and their causes are listed in Appendix A.
The following editorial modifications have been made to this Document:
--- Delete the content of the NOTE in "Marking of Products" (see 5.1.1 of ISO 11469:2016);
--- In order to coordinate with the existing standards, the name of the standard has been
changed to Marking of Plastics Products.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 2035 and the
following apply.
3.1 Reworked plastics
Thermoplastic products made by reprocessing scraps or unqualified products in a secondary
processing plant after pre-processing such as molding and extrusion in the factory.
NOTE: In many specifications, reworked plastics are limited to clean plastics, which meet the
requirements specified for new materials and whose product quality is actually equivalent to that of
products made from new materials.
3.2 Recycled plastics
Thermoplastic plastic products made from recycled discarded plastic products.
NOTE: This includes those with or without fillers, plasticizers, stabilizers, colorants, etc.
3.3 Repeatable used plastics
Plastic products that can be reused many times after molding and whose performance meets the
requirements of relevant regulations.
3.4 Recyclable plastics
Plastic products that can be recycled and reused after being discarded.
3.5 Nonrecoverable plastics
Plastic products that are not allowed to be recycled or reused by law.
3.6 Food contact plastics
Under normal conditions of use, various plastic products that have or are expected to come into
contact with food or food additives (hereinafter referred to as food), or whose components may
be transferred to food.
NOTE: It includes plastic packaging materials, containers, tools and equipment used for food during
food production, processing, packaging, transportation, storage, sales and use, as well as tableware,
containers, production pipelines, conveyor belts, packaging materials, etc.
