Preface
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents"
Drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 2408-2008 "Determination of Plastic Flammability Horizontal Method and Vertical Method", and GB/T 2408-2008
In comparison, in addition to editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) Modified some of the terms and definitions (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the.2008 edition);
b) Modified the layout of the chapters of "Specimen", "Method A" and "Method B", and added information about specimen dimensions (see Chapter 7, Chapter 8
Chapters and Chapter 9, Chapter 7, Chapter 8, and Chapter 9 of the.2008 edition);
c) Modified the horizontal combustion classification (see 8.4, 8.4 in the.2008 edition);
d) Added material evaluation grade thickness information [see 8.5m), 9.5l)];
e) The criterion for "burning to clamping fixture" has been added (see 9.2.4);
f) Deleted the "Blowtorch/Operator/Sample Arrangement Orientation" figure (Figure 6 of the.2008 edition);
g) Added the figure "Gap gauge", "Flame application", "Flame application when there is a droplet", "HB sample gauge" and "V sample gauge (illustration)"
"Not'burned to the flame front position of the clamping fixture"" and ""burned to the flame front position of the clamping fixture"" (see Figure 6~Figure 12).
This document uses the redrafting method to modify and adopt IEC 60695-11-10.2013 ``Fire Hazard Test Part 11-10.Test Fire
Flame 50W horizontal and vertical flame test method".
Compared with IEC 60695-11-10.2013, the main technical differences between this document and IEC 60695-11-10.2013 and the reasons are as follows.
a) Regarding normative reference documents, this document has made adjustments with technical differences to adapt to my country's technical conditions and adjustments.
The situation is collectively reflected in Chapter 2 "Normative Reference Documents", and the specific adjustments are as follows.
● Replace IEC 60695-11-4.2011 (see 6.2, 8.2.3,
9.2.2 and 9.2.3);
● Replace ISO 295.2004 (see 7.1) with GB/T 5471-2008 which is equivalent to adopting international standards;
● Replace ISO 293.2004 (see 7.1) with GB/T 9352-2008 which is equivalent to adopting international standards;
● Replace ISO 307.2007 (see 9.4) with GB/T 12006.1-2009 which is equivalent to adopting international standards;
● Replaced ISO 294 (all the
Part) (see 7.1);
● Replaced ISO 291.2008 with GB/T 2918-2018 (see 6.7 note) and moved it to the reference;
● Delete ISO /IEC Guide 51 and ISO /IEC Guide 104.
b) The terms "standard state", "burning", "enclosure", "fire hazard assessment", "flame retardant", "fire risk", "flame", and "ignition" have been deleted.
These nouns are popular terms. Some terms indicate verbs, nouns and other forms, which do not meet the requirements of national standards, so they are deleted.
c) Amend the horizontal combustion classification to "Material is classified as HB or does not reach HB, and can also be classified as HB40 or HB75" instead
"Materials are divided into HB, HB40 and HB75 grades", because the c in the HB level requirements is part of the c in the HB40 and HB70 requirements.
There is a clear distinction between the HB40 level requirements and the HB70 level requirements, so the revision is made to better guide the determination of the level.

For ease of use, this document has also made the following editorial changes.
a) Amend the standard title "Fire Hazard Test Part 11-10.Test Flame 50W Horizontal and Vertical Flame Test Method" to
"Determination of the combustion properties of plastics by the horizontal and vertical methods";
b) Amend "electronic products" in the scope to "plastics and non-metallic materials".

Determination of the burning properties of plastics
Horizontal method and vertical method
1 Scope
This document describes the horizontal or vertical combustion performance of strip specimens of plastic and non-metallic materials under 50W flame conditions.
Laboratory determination method. This test method is suitable for determining the linear burning rate and self-extinguishing properties of materials.
This document is applicable to the flammability of solid and foam materials with an apparent density of not less than 250kg/m3 measured in accordance with GB/T 6343-2009

This document contains two test methods. Method A is horizontal combustion, which is used to determine the linear combustion rate of materials under specified conditions. method
B is vertical combustion, used to determine the self-extinguishing properties of materials under specified conditions.
Note 1.ISO 9772 specifies the test method for the combustion characteristics of materials with an apparent density not higher than 250kg/m3.
ISO 9773 specifies the test method for materials that are deformed or burned to the fixture using method B of this document because of their thinness.
