Refractory – Determination of Moisture Content
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the definition of and test method for moisture content of
refractory.
This Standard applies to the determination of moisture content of refractory materials
and products.
This Standard does not apply to the refractory materials containing volatile organic
matters under the measuring temperature.

3 Definition
Moisture content
It is the ratio between the mass of free water contained in a refractory material sample
and the original mass of the sample, with the values expressed in %.
4 Principle
The sample of a refractory material is dried at 105°C to 110°C and its loss in mass is
the mass of free water contained by the sample.
