Titanium Alloy Large-Size Bars
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, package,
mark, transportation, storage, and purchasing order (contract) contents of the titanium
alloy large-size bars.
This Standard is applicable to the hot-forging, hot-rolling methods generated titanium
alloy large-size round bars (hereinafter refers to as bars).

4 Test Methods
4.1 The arbitration analysis of chemical composition shall be performed as per GB/T
4698.
4.2 The tensile test at room temperature shall be performed as per GB/T 228.1. The
tensile test at room temperature shall select R7 sample.
4.3 The tensile test at elevated temperature shall be performed as per GB/T 4338.
4.4 The endurance test shall be performed as per GB/T 2039-1997.
4.5 The size and shape shall be inspected by the measuring tool with corresponding
precision.
4.6 The β transition temperature test shall be performed as per GB/T 23605 or the
differential thermal method.
4.7 The ultrasonic flaw detection shall be performed as per GB/T 5193.
4.8 The macrostructure and microstructure shall be inspected as per GB/T 5168.
4.9 The surface conditions shall be performed as per the standard block comparison
method of surface roughness.
4.10 The appearance quality shall be visually inspected.
5 Inspection Rules
5.1 Inspection and acceptance
5.1.1 The bars shall be inspected by the Quality Inspection Department of the
supplier, ensuring the bars conforming to the provision of this Standard; and fill in the
quality certificate.
5.1.2 The purchaser is required to re-inspect the received bars according to the
provision of this Standard. If the re-inspection results is inconsistent with the provision
of this Standard, it shall be proposed to the supplier in written form, and solved through
the negotiation between the purchaser and supplier. The objection belonging to the
surface quality and size deviation shall be proposed within 1 month since the date of
reception of the product; while other objection shall be proposed within 3 months since
the date of reception of the product. In the case of arbitration, the sampling of
arbitration shall be performed jointly by both the supplier and the purchaser.
5.2 Batch
double quantity of specimen shall be taken from such batch of bars (including the
originally tested bars) to re-inspect the disqualified items; if the re-inspection results
are still disqualified, then such batch of bars are judged disqualified. However, the
supplier is allowed to take sampling and repeat the heat treatment for such batch of
bars, and re-inspect all inspection items. The repeat heat treatment is only for once.
5.4.4 The test results of macrostructure shall be judged as per the following rules.
a) In the macrostructure test, if it is judged to be brittle segregation (its hardness
is significantly higher than the segregation of the matrix; the common ones are like
oxygen enriched segregation, nitrogen enriched segregation), such batch of bars
are judged disqualified; if it is judged to be non-brittle segregation, the defects are
allowed to removed, and then form new batch of bars and deliver.
b) If the macrostructure has cracks, nonmetallic inclusions, and shrinkage; the
supplier is allowed to inspect piece by piece, remove the defects, and deliver the
qualified bars.
c) In the macrostructure test, if there are suspension or controversy against
whether belonging to the clear grains, it shall be subject to the microstructure test
results. If the microstructure test is the two-phase region working structure, there
is no completely original β grain boundary, then the macrostructure is judged
qualified, otherwise judged disqualified.
5.4.5 When microstructure is judged disqualified, such batch of bars shall be judged
disqualified; however, the supplier is allowed to inspect piece by piece, and deliver the
qualified ones.
6 Package, Mark, Transportation, Storage, and
Quality Certificate
6.1 Product mark
Each bar tested qualified shall be marked with the following contents at least.
a) Grade;
b) Specification;
c) Supply state;
d) Batch number or furnace number.
6.2 Package, mark, transportation, and storage
