1 Application Scope
This Standard specifies the classification and codes, ordering content, dimensions,
shape, weight, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging,
marking and quality certification of carburizing steels for automobile bearings.
This Standard applies to carburizing steels for automobile bearings of nominal
diameter 4.5 mm ~ 120 mm (hereinafter referred to as steels).

acceptance as specified in this Standard.
8.1.2 The purchaser can dispatch inspection personnel to the supplier at any time, if
necessary. The supplier shall provide necessary facilities for the inspection personnel
of the purchaser to ensure steels confirmed for delivery conform to the requirements
of this Standard. The inspection personnel of the purchaser shall not disturb the
production and operation of the supplier for no reason.
8.2 Grouping rules
Steels shall be tested and accepted by batch. Each batch consists of steels of the
same designation, furnace number, processing method, dimension, delivery condition
and heat treatment batch.
8.3 Specimen number and specimen location
The specimen number and specimen location of steels shall be as specified in Table
12.
8.4 Retest and evaluation criteria
8.4.1 If any test item among the test items fails to pass (except flakes, non-metallic
inclusions and tower hair cracks), test specimens can be taken once again to carry out
retest for the defective items, with the same specimen number as that of the initial test
(except test for oxygen content), the batch of steels is decided to pass the test if the
retest passes; if the retest results still fail to pass, then the batch of steels shall be
decided to fail to pass the test.
8.4.2 When oxygen content fails to pass the test, three test specimens can be taken
randomly from steels for retest; the mean value of test results shall not be greater than
the values specified in standards; it is allowed for one test specimen exceed the values
specified in standards, but the value shall not exceed the standard values plus 0.000
3%.
8.4.3 If the test specimens failing to pass initial test exceed one half of test specimens,
it indicates that the quality of the batch of steels is poor, so retest is not allowed to
ensure the quality of steels to be delivered, but the supplier can carry out treatment
and grouping once again to submit test specimens as a new batch for inspection and
acceptance.
8.4.4 If the supplier can ensure steels are up to standard, it is allowed to use billets
to replace steels and large ones to replace small ones, with regard to the
