1 Application Scope
This Standard specifies the designation, ordering content, dimensions, shape, weight,
technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality
certification of continuously hot-rolled steel sheet and strip for cold-forming steel
sections.
This Standard applies to continuously hot-rolled steel strip and steel sheet cut
transversely from steel strip for cold-forming steel sections of thickness not greater
than 25.4 mm (hereinafter referred to as steel sheet and strip).

3 Ordering Content
3.1 The contract for ordering in accordance with this Standard shall also include the
following content.
a) a reference to this Standard;
b) product name;
c) designation;
d) specifications and thickness accuracy (ordinary thickness accuracy if not
indicated);
e) delivery condition;
f) weight;
g) special requirements.
3.2 Steel strips are delivered in untrimming condition when the edge condition is not
indicated in the contract. Steel sheets are delivered as agreed on by the supplier and
the purchaser.
4 Designation
Steels are designated by adding the suffix “-LW” to the corresponding designations of
GB/T 699, GB/T 700, GB/T 1591, GB/T 4171.
LW – the initials of Chinese Pinyin of cold forming.
8 Inspection Rules
8.1 Steel sheet and strip shall be inspected and accepted by the technical
supervision department of the supplier.
8.2 Steel sheet and strip shall be accepted by batch. Each batch consists of steel
sheet and strip of the same furnace number, designation, specification and delivery
condition. The weight of each batch is not greater than 60 t. Steel strip of rolling coil
weight greater than 30 t may be grouped into two rolling coils.
8.3 The specimen number and sampling methods for each batch of steel sheet and
strip shall be as specified in Table 7.
8.4 The rules for retest and evaluation of steel sheet and strip shall be as specified
