Automotive passive infrared detection system
1 Scope
This document specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules for
automotive passive infrared detection systems.
This document applies to automotive passive infrared detection systems based on
uncooled infrared focal plane detectors for sensing the external environment
(hereinafter referred to as systems).
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute essential clauses of this document
through normative references in the text. Among them, for dated references, only the
version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated references, the
latest version (including all amendments) applies to this document.

Note: For PoC powered systems, the requirements and test methods are determined by
negotiation between the supplier and buyer.
5.4.2.8 Short-term power interruption
Carry out test according to 6.5.1.8. During the test, when the power interruption time
does not exceed 100 μs, the functional status of the system shall reach grade A. When
the power interruption time exceeds 100 μs and does not exceed 2 s, the functional
status of the system shall not be lower than grade C. The functional status of the system
after the test shall reach grade A.
Note: For PoC powered systems, the requirements and test methods are determined by
negotiation between the supplier and buyer.
5.4.2.9 Open circuit
5.4.2.9.1 Single line open circuit
Carry out test according to 6.5.1.9.1. The functional status of the system after the test
shall reach grade A.
Note: For PoC powered systems, the requirements and test methods are determined by
negotiation between the supplier and buyer.
5.4.2.9.2 Multi-line open circuit
Carry out test according to 6.5.1.9.2. The functional status of the system shall reach
grade A after the test.
Note: For PoC powered systems, the requirements and test methods are determined by
negotiation between the supplier and buyer.
5.4.2.10 Short circuit protection
Carry out test according to 6.5.1.10, the functional status of the system shall reach grade
A after the test.
Note: For PoC powered systems, the requirements and test methods are determined by
negotiation between the supplier and buyer.
5.4.2.11 Insulation resistance
The insulation resistance of the system shall not be less than 10 MΩ. Carry out test
according to 6.5.1.11. The functional status shall reach grade A after the test.
Note: For PoC powered systems, the requirements and test methods are determined by
negotiation between the supplier and buyer.
5.4.2.12 Reference grounding and power supply offset
Carry out test according to 6.5.1.12. The functional status of the system shall not be
lower than grade B.
Note: For PoC powered systems, the requirements and test methods are determined by
negotiation between the supplier and buyer.
5.4.3 Mechanical properties
5.4.3.1 Mechanical vibration
Carry out test according to 6.5.2.1. The system shall not be physically damaged during
and after the test. The functional status shall reach grade A. The MTF value after the
test shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
5.4.3.2 Mechanical shock
Carry out test according to 6.5.2.2. The system shall not be physically damaged during
and after the test. The functional status shall reach grade A. The MTF value after the
test shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
5.4.3.3 Free fall
Carry out test according to 6.5.2.3. The system is not allowed to have hidden damage
after the test, whilst minor damage to the shell is allowed. The functional status shall
reach grade A. The MTF value shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
5.4.3.4 Gravel impact
Lens installed on the outside of the vehicle shall be tested in accordance with 6.5.2.4.
After the test, the lens or window shall not be broken (slight damage to the surface
coating layer that does not affect the image quality is allowed); the system's functional
status shall reach grade A; the MTF value shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
5.4.3.5 Lens wear resistance
Lens installed on the outside of the vehicle shall be tested in accordance with 6.5.2.5.
After the test, the lens coating layer shall not fall off; the system's functional status shall
reach grade A; the MTF value shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
5.4.3.6 Harness pull-off force
Systems with harnesses shall be tested in accordance with 6.5.2.6. After the test, there
shall be no damage, harness breakage, terminal detachment, etc.; the system's functional
status shall reach grade A.
Carry out test according to 6.5.3.4.1. The functional status of the system shall not be
lower than Grade B.
5.4.4.5.2 Rapid temperature change with specified switching time
Carry out test according to 6.5.3.4.2. The functional status of the system shall reach
Grade A after the test.
5.4.4.6 Damp heat test
5.4.4.6.1 Damp heat cycle
For systems or units installed inside the passenger compartment, carry out test
according to 6.5.3.5.1. The functional status of the system shall not be lower than grade
B; there shall be no condensation inside the display area.
No requirements are made for systems or units installed outside the vehicle.
5.4.4.6.2 Temperature/humidity combined cycle
For systems or units installed outside the vehicle, the system functional status shall not
be lower than grade B and there shall be no condensation inside the display area, when
tested according to 6.5.3.5.2.

1 Scope
This document specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules for

5.4.2.8 Short-term power interruption
Carry out test according to 6.5.1.8. During the test, when the power interruption time
does not exceed 100 μs, the functional status of the system shall reach grade A. When
the power interruption time exceeds 100 μs and does not exceed 2 s, the functional
status of the system shall not be lower than grade C. The functional status of the system
after the test shall reach grade A.

5.4.2.9 Open circuit

Carry out test according to 6.5.1.9.1. The functional status of the system after the test
shall reach grade A.

5.4.2.11 Insulation resistance
The insulation resistance of the system shall not be less than 10 MΩ. Carry out test
according to 6.5.1.11. The functional status shall reach grade A after the test.

5.4.2.12 Reference grounding and power supply offset
Carry out test according to 6.5.1.12. The functional status of the system shall not be
lower than grade B.

5.4.3 Mechanical properties

5.4.3.4 Gravel impact
Lens installed on the outside of the vehicle shall be tested in accordance with 6.5.2.4.
After the test, the lens or window shall not be broken (slight damage to the surface
coating layer that does not affect the image quality is allowed); the system's functional
status shall reach grade A; the MTF value shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
5.4.3.5 Lens wear resistance
Lens installed on the outside of the vehicle shall be tested in accordance with 6.5.2.5.
After the test, the lens coating layer shall not fall off; the system's functional status shall
reach grade A; the MTF value shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
5.4.3.6 Harness pull-off force
Systems with harnesses shall be tested in accordance with 6.5.2.6. After the test, there
shall be no damage, harness breakage, terminal detachment, etc.; the system's functional
status shall reach grade A.
Carry out test according to 6.5.3.4.1. The functional status of the system shall not be
lower than Grade B.
5.4.4.5.2 Rapid temperature change with specified switching time
Carry out test according to 6.5.3.4.2. The functional status of the system shall reach
Grade A after the test.
5.4.4.6 Damp heat test
5.4.4.6.1 Damp heat cycle
For systems or units installed inside the passenger compartment, carry out test
according to 6.5.3.5.1. The functional status of the system shall not be lower than grade
B; there shall be no condensation inside the display area.
No requirements are made for systems or units installed outside the vehicle.
5.4.4.6.2 Temperature/humidity combined cycle
For systems or units installed outside the vehicle, the system functional status shall not
be lower than grade B and there shall be no condensation inside the display area, when
tested according to 6.5.3.5.2.
