Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces LY/T 1346-1999 "Gasoline powered chain saws. Determination
of its balance". Compared with LY/T 1346-1999, the main technical changes in this
Standard are as follows:
- Change the standard's name from "Gasoline powered chain saws. Determination of
its balance" to "Forestry machinery - Portable chain-saws - Determination of balance
and maximum holding moment";
- Modify the content of Chapter 1 "Scope";
- Add the content of Chapter 2 "Normative references";
- Add the chain saw balance test requirements for tested chainsaw and test equipment
(see 4.1 of this Edition);
- Delete the determination of the balance of high and short chain saws in LY/T 1346-
1999;
- Add the test requirements for longitudinal balance of the front handle of forest
chain saws (see 4.2 of this Edition);
- Add the test requirements for longitudinal balance of the handle behind the pruning
chain saw (see 4.3 of this Edition);
- Add the test requirements for lateral balance of the handle behind the pruning chain
saw (see 4.4 of this Edition);
- Add the test requirements for determination of the maximum grip torque of the
handle after pruning chainsaw (see Chapter 5 of this Edition);
- Add Annex A "Example test report".
This Standard uses translation method to identically adopt the international standard
ISO 8334:2007 "Forestry machinery - Portable chainsaws - Determination of balance
and maximum holding moment".
This Standard has also made the following editorial changes:
- To conform to the usage habits of China, the unit of measurement of fuel in Annex
A "Example test report" is changed from "cm3" to "mL".
The Chinese document which has consistency with the international normative
reference in this Part is as follows:
Forestry machinery - Portable chain-saws - Determination
of balance and maximum holding moment
1 Scope
This Standard specifies a test method for the longitudinal and the lateral balance of
portable combustion engine hand-held chain-saws.
It also provides a test method for determining the maximum holding moment of tree
service chain-saws.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this
document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references,
the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
ISO 6531, Machinery for forestry - Portable hand-held chain-saws - Vocabulary
3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in ISO 6531 apply.
4 Determination of balance
4.1 Preparation
4.1.1 Chain-saw
The balance shall be checked on a normal production saw in a new and clean condition.
Fuel and oil tanks shall be half full. The saw shall be fitted with a guide bar and an
associated saw chain as specified below. The guide bar shall be tightened to its
uppermost position.
The chain-saw as specified in the instruction handbook or according to the
manufacturer’s instructions shall be tested in both of the following two configurations:
a) shortest and lightest guide bar, without spiked bumper (if detachable);
b) longest and heaviest guide bar, with spiked bumper (if available).
