Foreword
This standard NB/T 47019-2011 “Purchase technical specification for boiler and
heater exchanger tubes/pipes” was compiled with reference to the European
standard EN, United States standard ASME, Japan standard JIS, and so on,
combining with China's national standards and industry standards, AND the
purchase agreement of boiler and heat exchanger manufacturers.
This standard covers the purchase technical specifications for the steel tubes
and non-ferrous metal tubes which are normally used in boiler, heat exchangers
and other pressure equipment. It is mainly divided into the following eight parts.
- Part 1. General requirements;
- Part 2. Non-alloy and alloy steel with room temperature properties;
- Part 3. Non-alloy and alloy steel with specified elevated temperature
properties;
- Part 4. Low alloy steel for low-temperature services.
- Part 5. Stainless steel;
- Part 6. Ferrite/austenitic duplex steel;
- Part 7. Copper and copper alloy tube;
- Part 8. Titanium and titanium alloy.
This part is the fifth part of NB/T 47019-2011. As compared with the domestic
and international standards, the main differences are as follows.
- SPECIFY the composition and performance of seamless steel tube and
welded steel tube;
- ADD the specifications for the inspection items as agreed between both
parties;
- SPECIFY the stricter packaging requirements;
This part of the standard was proposed by AND shall be under the jurisdiction
of the National Boiler and Pressure Vessel Standardization Technical
Committee (SAC/TC 262).
This drafting organizations of this part. China Special Equipment Testing and
Research Institute, Gansu Lanke Petrochemical High-tech Equipment Co., Ltd.,
China Special Equipment Testing and Research Institute, Jiangsu Wujin
Stainless Steel Tube Factory Group Co., Ltd., Haiyan Zhongda Special Steel
Co., Ltd., Wuxi Tengyue Special Steel Tube Co., Ltd, Zhejiang Jiuli Hi-tech
Metals Co., Ltd.

As for this part, the National Boiler and Pressure Vessel Standardization
Technical Committee (SAC/TC 262) will be responsible for its interpretation.
Purchase technical specification for boiler and heater
exchanger tubes/pipes - Part 5. Stainless steel
1 Scope
This part specifies the classification and marking, technical requirements, test
methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality requirements for
seamless and welded stainless steel tubes.
This part applies to seamless and welded stainless steel tubes for boilers and
heat exchangers.

flattened, the weld on the sample shall be free from cracks, insufficient
penetration, or folding due to inner weld finishing.
5.5.4 Reverse bending test
As for the tube with the ratio of wall thickness to outer diameter less than 10%
OR the wall thickness less than 3.4 mm OR the outer diameter less than 9.5
mm, it shall be subjected to the reverse bending test. After the test, the sample
shall be free from cracks or folding due to inner weld finishing.
5.6 Water pressure test
5.6.1 The steel tube shall be subjected to water pressure test one by one. The
maximum test pressure shall not exceed 20 MPa AND the pressure regulation
time shall be 10 s.
5.6.2 Where the purchaser has no requirement, the manufacturer may use the
eddy current test in lieu of the water pressure test. When the eddy current test
is used to replace the water pressure test, the artificial defects of the contrasting
sample tube and the acceptance level shall comply with the requirements of
level A in GB/T 7735.
5.7 Underwater sealing test
As requested by the purchaser, the welded tube may be subjected to the
underwater sealing test in accordance with NB/T 47019.1.
5.8 Intergranular corrosion
The tube shall be, in accordance with the method E of GB/T 4334, subjected to
the intergranular corrosion test. If requested by the purchaser AND noted in the
contract, it is also allowed to use other intergranular corrosion test methods.
5.9 Non-destructive test
5.9.1 The seamless tube shall be subjected to the ultrasonic detection one by
one, AND the longitudinal depth level of the contrasting sample tube shall
comply with the provisions of L2.5 in GB/T 5777.
5.9.2 The welded tube shall be subjected to the eddy current test one by one,
AND the artificial defects and acceptance level of the contrasting sample tube
shall comply with the provisions of level A in GB/T 7735.
