Foreword
This Standard is drafted in accordance with the requirements and format of GB/T 1.1-
2009 “Directives for Standardization - Part 1. Structure and Drafting of Standards”.
This Standard is drafted in accordance with the characteristics of products and
techniques of this enterprise.
Please be noted that certain content in this Standard might involve patents. The issuing
institution of this Standard does not undertake the responsibility of identifying these
patents.
This Standard serves as a replacement of Q/BQB 111-2014. In comparison with
Q/BQB 111-2014, there are several main changes as follows.
- modified the scope, added that “or for metallurgical raw materials”;
- modified the normative references, deleted GB/T 2101-2008 “General
requirement of acceptance packaging marking and certification for section
steel”, deleted the analysis method for chemical composition, used the latest
version, edition 2015 of GB/T 226;
- modified the requirements for side length tolerance in Table 1, added the
requirements for drum belly, added diagonal length difference and drum belly
graphical representation Table 2;
- modified the macroscopic examination of the rectangular blank that is carried out
by the supplier and the purchaser as mandatory;
- modified the requirements for surface quality, “The surface of the continuous
casting blank shall be free from visible cracks, crusting, inclusions, folding and
cracking, but allow for slight mechanical scratches, vibration marks, etc.” was
MODIFIED AS “The surface of the continuous casting blank shall not have
visible reconnection, peeling, cracking, crusting or slag inclusion visible to the
naked eye. There shall be no mechanical scratches, stomata, pits, bumps, cold
splashes, vibration marks, etc. with a depth or height greater than 2 mm”;
ADDED that “Alloy steel with a total mass fraction of not less than 6% for all
alloying elements is prohibited from flame cleaning”;
- the test method GB/T 223 for chemical composition analysis in Table 3 was
modified as “analytical method according to relevant product standards”;
- deleted that “The packaging, marks and inspection documents of continuous
casting blank shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 2101”; refined the
requirements for packaging, marks and inspection documents (quality
certificate).
Continuous casting square and rectangular blank
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the dimension, shape, weight and tolerance, technical
requirements, inspection and testing, packaging, marks and inspection documents of
continuous casting square and rectangular blank.
This Standard is applicable to continuous casting square and rectangular blank for re-
rolling, forging or metallurgical raw materials manufactured by Baoshan Iron and Steel
Co., Ltd.
2 Normative References
The following documents are indispensable to the application of this Standard. In terms
of references with a specified date, only versions with a specified date are applicable
to this Standard. The latest version (including all the modifications) of references
without a specified date is also applicable to this Standard.

Determination of Chemical Composition
3 Information for ordering
The user needs to provide the following information when ordering.
a) Reference to this enterprise;
b) Designation;
c) Specification;
d) Weight;
e) Other particular requirements.
4 Dimension, shape, weight and tolerance
4.1 Dimension and tolerance
requirements of the corresponding Baosteel enterprise standard or other standards.
5.2 Smelting method
Steel is smelted by electric furnace, and corresponding refining process is adopted
according to the technical requirements of different steel grades.
5.3 Delivery condition
Delivery in continuous casting square blank or rectangular blank. Rectangular blanks
of high alloy steel shall be delivered in an annealed condition.
5.4 Macroscopic examination
Continuous casting square and rectangular blanks shall be subject to macroscopic
examination. The both parties shall stipulate the examination criteria, sampling
quantity and qualification indicator based on agreement. If not specified by the
agreement, the supplier shall select the examination criteria, sampling quantity and
qualification indicator.
5.5 Surface quality
5.5.1 There must be no shrinkage holes or subcutaneous bubbles on the end face of
the continuous casting blank.
5.5.2 The surface of the continuous casting blank shall not have visible reconnection,
peeling, cracking, crusting or slag inclusion visible to the naked eye. There shall be no
mechanical scratches, stomata, pits, bumps, cold splashes, vibration marks, etc. with
a depth or height greater than 2 mm.
5.5.3 Continuous casting blank surface defects allow cleaning. The cleaning place
shall be smooth and without corners. The cleaning depth (on the same section) must
not be greater than 5% of the nominal side length. The cleaning width must not be less
than 8 times the cleaning depth. Alloy steel with a total mass fraction of not less than
6% for all alloying elements is prohibited from flame cleaning.
6 Inspection and testing
6.1 The inspection items, sampling quantity, sampling method and test method of
continuous casting blank shall comply with the provisions of Table 3.
6.2 The steel billet is inspected and accepted according to the number of the furnace
(the same designation).
