3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this Standard.
3.1
Continuous casting square blank
It refers to the continuous casting blank of which the four sides of the cross section are in
the same length, and the four interior angles are 90°.
3.2
Continuous casting rectangular blank
It refers to the continuous casting blank of which the two opposite sides are in the same
length, four interior angles are 90°, and the length of the longer sides is not more than 2.5
times of the length of the shorter sides.
4 Order contents
Order contract according to this Standard shall include the following contents.
a) Standard number;
b) Product name;
c) Grade;
d) Delivered weight (theoretical or actual weight);
e) Dimensions;
f) Special requirements.
5 Dimensions, appearance, weight and allowable deviation
5.1 Dimensions and allowable deviation
5.1.1 Dimensions and allowable deviation of continuous casting blank shall comply with
the requirements indicated in table 1.
5.1.2 According to the demander’s needs, continuous casting blank can be delivered at
specified or unspecified length; allowable deviation of specified length is mm.
5.1.3 Under the negotiation of the supplier and the demander, allowable deviation of
dimension and appearance of continuous casting blank can be appropriately adjusted.

6.6 Surface quality
6.6.1 There shall be no visible halved joint, skull patch, scabs and impurity on the surface
of the continuous casting blank.
6.6.2 There shall be no crack up to 2rmn depth on the surface of ordinary-quality non-alloy
steel and low-alloy steel; there shall be no crack up to 1mm depth on the surface of
superior non-alloy steel, special-quality non-alloy steel, and alloy steel.
6.6.3 There shall be no scratch, press mark, scrape, air hole, wrinkle, cold splash, lug and
pit up to 3mm in depth or height on the surface of ordinary-quality non-alloy steel and
low-alloy steel.
